                                                                                 작은 사과 하나

                                                                                                                                                                      이병호

                                                                          사과 나무 하나를 사서 집 뒷뜰에 심었는데
                                                                           3-4년 전부터  꽃이 피고 열매도 열렸다

                                                                          여섯 개나 일곱 개 중에서 서너 개는 상큼한 사과맛을 봤는데
                                                                          나머지는 새들이 와서 쪼아 먹어벼렸네

                                                                          얼마전에 사과 나무가  이상기후에  놀랐는데
                                                                          꽃을  피우고 오로지 작은 사과 하나만 열렸네

                                                                          작은 사과를 종이로 정성들여 싸서 새들이 와서 먹지 않도록
                                                                          보호해 주려고 했는데
                                                                          갑자기 어느샌가 그 작은 사과 하나가 없어졌네

                                                                          생존 경쟁에서  사과와 새들이 살아남으려고
                                                                          몸부림치는데
     
                                                                         이제 봄은 다시 오고 있는데 사과 나무가 다시
                                                                         꽃을 피우려나 궁금해지네
                                                                         기다리는 마음으로 그 사과 맛을 다시 한번 맛보고 싶은데.

                                                                                          One Small Apple

                                                                          I bought an apple tree and planted it at the back yard of the house.
                                                                         Three or four years ago, it bloomed and bore fruits.

                                                                         Among six or seven I tasted there were three or four refreshing apples,
                                                                         and the rest were pecked at and eaten by the birds.

                                                                         Not long ago, the apple tree was surprised by the abnormal climate,
                                                                         It bloomed and bore only one small apple.

                                                                         I thought I would wrap it carefully with paper so it would be
                                                                         protected and not to be eaten by the birds.
                                                                         All of a sudden, before I knew it, the one small apple disappeared.

                                                                         In the fight for existence, the apples and birds struggle to survive.

                                                                         Now, the spring has come again I wonder if the apple tree will
                                                                         blossom again.
                                                                         With a waiting mind, I look forward to tasting that apple.
