길 위의 인생

오늘도 엄마와 아들은 히말라야의 험준한 산길을 오르내려야 하네.
무거운 짐을 등에 머리에 메고 걸어야 하네.
모자는 아들의 학비를 벌기 위해 이 길을 택했다네.
해가 질 무렵이면 임시 숙소에서 쪽잠을 청한다네.
걸어가는 도중에 강 위의 출렁다리들도 건너야 한다네.
캄캄한 터널을 지나면 끝이 있는 법.
목적지에 도착하면 짐 무게에 따라 땀 흘린 대가를 받고
잠시나마 마음의 여유를 풀어본다네.
홀가분한 몸으로 산길을 오르내리면서도 모자는 말이 없다네.
엄마는 아들 걱정, 아들은 엄마 걱정.
길 위의 인생은 내일도 계속된다네.
Life on the Road
Today, the mother and son have to climb up and down
the rugged mountain trails of the Himalayas.
They have to walk with heavy loads on their back and head.
Mother and son took this road to earn money for her son’s tuition.
They get a little sleep in makeshift quarters at sunset.
On the way, they have to cross the suspension bridge over the
river.
The end seems to appear after going through a dark tunnel.
When they arrive at their destination, they get paid for their
sweat in accordance to the weight at their luggage.
While walking up and down the mountain road with relaxed bodies,
mother and son are silent.
She is worried about her son and her son is worried about his
mother.
Life on the road continues tomorrow.
